Feldspar : A Right-Arm Man for Ceramic Production

2010-05-10 15:34:36 Author:admin Source: Views:0

Feldspar is one of the most abundant mineral in crust, and usually enbodied in some sedimentary rocks and almost all igneous rocks. It was inferred that the mining beds of feldspar is most around the world, and the potential availability quantity of mineral is large.

Feldspar is one of the basic raw materials of ceramic and porcelain industries. What’s use of feldspar in ceramic and procelain industries?

1. Feldspar and quartz are both lean material, which can shorten the body drying time and reduce the body drying shrinkage and deformation.

2, Feldspar is the flux material, and it plays an important part  in reducing the sintering temperature of porcelain body.

3, At high temperatures, feldspar glass is changed from feldspar, and fill in the gap between the body particles. Binding particles help to improve the mechanical properties .

4, feldspar glass is a liquid medium at high temperature, it can promote penetration and melting of quartz and kaolinite mineral. At the same time, because the rapid movement of particles in liquid, which can promote and accelerate the formation and development of crystallization .

Feldspar is very important in the production of ceramic, here are some introduction about Felspar:

Products: Main component SiO 2, Al 2 O 3, K 2 O, Na 2 O, CaO, etc., mainly used in the manufacture of ceramics and enamel, glass raw materials, and grain abrasive tool  etc.

Hardness is between 6 and 6.5, weight is 2-2.5. Feldspars have high compressive strength and strong acid stability. Most of potash feldspar is pink, gray, white and brown. Albite is white, gray and light yellow, calcium feldspar is white or light gray.
