lithium-ion (Li +) has a smaller ionic radius,strong electric field, low coordination number, strong polarization. Comparing sodium and potassium ions, it is easier to relax and break off by weakening the network structure.the same weight of Li2O has larger atomic number than other alkali metal oxides, to improve the fluxing action.
In the process of melting glass,Li2O can reduce the viscosity and the effect of glass surface tension, and imrove the clarification of glass.
Lepidolite contains 3.5-5.5% Li2O, 9.5% of Na2O and K2OE,1.2 of Rb2O and Cs2O.All these alkali metal oxides are the glass flux. SiO2 and Al2O3 are the main accelerator of glass. The economic value of Lepidolite is considerable.
